The parking lot has 448 spaces for standard cars and 8 spaces for buses.
Parking for the disabled (parking permits): 2 spaces in front of the museum, 6 spaces behind the bus stop.

Tokushima South Loop Road
From the south intersection of Route 55 and Ono Bridge, go west. You can enter the park directly from the "Bunka no Mori" interchange.
Cautions
  • There is a "Bunka no Mori Park" sign on Route 55 that is located at the intersection north of the Ono Bridge (if you turn here, you will arrive along the north bank of the Sonose River).
  • "Bunka no Mori" cannot be accessed by eastbound lines from Kamihachiman and Ichinomiya. On the other hand, from the Bunka no Mori the eastbound route is only accessible.

  2. Tokushima City Bus Stop, 3rd Platform. Bus bound to "Ichihara" (via Route 55 bypass, Fureai Health Center, and Tomidabashi Dori). Get off at "Bunka no Mori". About 25 minutes.
  3. From Tokushima City Bus, 2nd Platform. Bus bound to "Hokke" (via "Bunka no Mori"). Get off at "Bunka no Mori". Approximately 16 minutes.
  4. Tokushima City Bus Stop, 3rd Platform. Bus bound for "Shirasagidai", or "Ichinomiya", or "Amanohara (Nyuta)". Get off at "Sonosebashi". Approximately 16 minutes. About 10 minutes on foot from the bus stop.
  5. Tokushima City Bus Stop, 4rd Platform. Bus bound to "Niida-nishi" or "Sanagochi-line, Kamiyama-kokomae". Get off at "Sonosebashi". Approximately 16 minutes.

Good Manners

Can I drink tea?
Eating and drinking are forbidden in the exhibition rooms or in the lobbies. Please use the 3rd floor rest area.
If you need to take medicine or feel unwell, please ask a staff member.
Can I talk in the exhibition rooms?
Yes, you can. We want visitors to enjoy the exhibition while exchanging impressions. However, some people prefer to view the exhibits quietly. Please be considerate and keep your voice down.
Can I take pictures of the paintings?
Please do not take photographs. This is to avoid the danger of bumping into people or artwork. Another reason is to prevent distribution on the Internet without the permission of the copyright holders. We ask for your understanding.

Do not damage important cultural properties. Respect each other so that everyone can relax. Let's create these manners together.

Spending time in the museum

Can I leave an exhibition room for a break and re-enter?
OK during the same day. Please ask reception staff to mark your ticket stub so you can show it when you re-enter.
How much time is appropriate for a visit?
You should visit at your own pace according to your own interests, such as the works you are interested in or the theme of the exhibition. If you get tired, take a break in the chairs in the exhibition rooms or in the lobby.
Is there an audio guide?
There is no audio guide.
QR codes can be used to display explanations of a few works in the collection (Japanese, English, Traditional & Simplified Chinese, and Korean).
Audio contents "90-second Viewing Time" and "Viewing Time without Pictures" are available on Youtube.(Japanese)
Explanatory texts of the artworks are provided on the website.(Japanese)
Is it difficult to appreciate art?
There is no frame of correct answers on how to enjoy art. We hope that our guest can find more works of art by their own approach and emotions.
Can I ask questions?
The curators will do their best to accommodate you. We apologize in advance if a person in charge is not available by any means.
What kind of researchers are there?
There are curators in charge of Japanese Western painting, Japanese traditional painting, sculpture, lithography, photography, Western art, contemporary art, conservation, and other fields.
